Second go… - Aria MacDonald

Second go…

This is the second attempt at updating in the past day or so.

Overall it has been a trying week.

Aria is off intestinal feeds and back on full TPN.  Quite disappointing and we are still struggling with it.  She had a biopsy on Monday and it was clear for rejection.  There were abnormal findings and the team are still sure it is a result of her Norwalk virus dragging on.  So we watch and wait and hope to restart feeds once her outputs settle.

Aria’s skin is still dreadful and we have an appointment with a dermatologist this evening.  What a relief.  We are hoping and praying for answers and treatment.  Aria is very itchy and her sleeping is terrible, poor girl.  She scratches herself raw and bleeding.  We put creams on but they are gone within half an hour.  We are managing the best we can with creams and meds but are at our wits end.

Aria is actually doing pretty well herself.  She is still laughing and happy.  She gives me this big beaming smile with her peeling red face (even her eyelids are peeling) and missing tooth and it just makes my heart soar and sag.

Our country is hurting right now and we feel so sad for it and so far away.  Amazing to see the NZ spirit and all the other countries coming to help us.  We have family and friends in Christchurch and thankfully they are well.  Had kind American friends email and ring yesterday to check on our family and friends.  How cool!  Anyway please keep the people of Christchurch in your prayers and thoughts.

Hmmm feeling your frustration with the TPN and the rash. It’s just so DRY here right now, too, so I can’t imagine that’s helping either! Praying that virus gets under control too and hope the dermatologist is able to help today.

I’ve been reading a lot about all of the heartache in Christchurch. I’m sorry you’re so far away from home when things are in turmoil there. Praying for NZ.

So much for you all to deal with at this time but thankful nothing as serious as rejection. God will keep her in his care and pray answers will come soon.

Hi, MacDonald family, so sorry to hear about Aria’s current health problems, it must seem like a step backwards for you, but hey, take heart, she has come through so much already, and this, too, shall pass. Hope it’s not a dumb question, but we were wondering to ourselves the other day how Aria takes T.P.N., when presumably she has now no wiggle? (Hope you don’t mind me asking).

Glad your Christchurch people are all okay. It is indeed awful.

Thinking of you all as you continue to figure things out with sweet Aria. So happy that she continues to be happy despite all that goes on with her. Thinking of your country during this time of hurt! Still praying!!

God bless you all-so much going on in this old world at the moment and so close to our hearts all of it- but we never forget little aria and you all as you continue this journey

Praying that God will provide the answers that you need and that the Dermatologist will provide the solution to Aria’s skin problem. All the people of Christchurch are in our prayers – my best friend and her family live there, was very relieved to hear that they are all safe but our prayers also go out to all those that have lost loved ones and for those still missing. God bless 🙂

Praying and thanking God for His faithfulness in bringing Aria and you all this far by His grace and I am sure He alone will guide you thru this journey with grace, love, and mercy. To be able to hear of all His favoured answers to Aria’s every need would be another rejoicing sound from all His family who are praying for you all amen. Hope for a cure for her skin soon as and hope for best results for her feeds and her overall best health amen.

Thanks for remembering Chch at the mo. There are no phones but people can be contacted by email. Finally heard from my special friend tonight by email – he saw 20 cars in holes in the roads from the earthquake just on the way to work today. He has no power or phones for four weeks. Just incredible this has happened.
All my friends have taken their kids out of Chch to whanau in other parts of the Sth Island to give them a break, especially while no power etc. Amazing they are all ok.

Then I think of Aria. She is such a miracle. Sore and itchy with the rash, and still smiling. What a girl. And then look at her Mum! Trying everything she knows to help. You are amazing Anita. I don’t know why but I sense the rash is going to settle soon.

I continue to lift you guys up in prayer because I think you are awesome!

I am so glad to hear that all of your family and friends are safe in Christchurch 🙂 I have been thinking of you guys since the quake.
My mother has very close friends over there that they still have not been able to make contact with and they hold very grave fears for them. She also learnt that a lady that she works with lost her first grandchild in the quakes, a six month old baby girl 🙁
Much love and hugs to all of you xxx
