Bumpy Day - Aria MacDonald

Bumpy Day

Good news!  Aria came off the ventilator today!

But as we suspected she has had a bumpy day.  She really needs to cough but she is so so so so sleepy.  Doesn’t want to wake up and will only move if we really bug her.  Not really sure what is up with that.

Her afternoon gas came back a little worse and I was getting anxious she was heading in the wrong direction.  But after some more aggressive treatments and a lot of prayer the last two have improved.

On the cancer front her ANC came back improved again at around 300.  Would really like it to hit 500 and we could feel a touch safer about her ability to fight illness.

Her hair has pretty much all gone.  I pulled the rest of it this afternoon with tears.  Sounds nasty but it just peels off her head, no trauma at all.  I just wanted it gone so we can stop looking it falling out and just look at a bald head.  I know, not sure about my logic there, but it was awful to be in limbo with her hair.  Honestly, I feel like this is just the saddest thing ever ever ever.  Totally breaks my heart to see my daughter with no hair.  Maybe it would be easier if she was a boy.  I don’t know.  Anyway, yes I do know it will grow back, but today I am grieving for it’s loss.

Big huge thank you to the Arms family for having Asher this weekend.  He had a great time and went on some fun adventures.  Hamish and I were able to focus on the task at hand with Aria and relax knowing Asher was having fun.  Thank you!!

Still praying for you friend. It was so hard for me when they shaved Evies head… It just seems like a bald head is symbolic of sickness. Praying you can feel the power of Jesus and his resurrection tomorrow, and the promise of restoration that he gives us all. I’ll be happy to be restored someday, with the burdens of this life just a shadow of perfection in eternity (: I can’t wait to see what Eves body looks like up there. Xoxo

I felt exactly the same with my daughters hair when she was on chemo, just makes the cancer seem more real I think. Thinking of you always. XXXX

Aria has always been a fighter! I am glad you had some good news today, even if it was a bumpy day. I think it is tougher for girls/women to lose their hair, because the Bible says it’s our crown & glory. So, I think it is natural for little girls & women going through cancer, to mourn a little. I’m glad your friends culd help you out with Asher! Praying Aria’s health will continue to improve! God Bless!

  16. Brian and Sandra says:

As hard as it is Aria will always be beautiful no matter what. What a God send having people like the Arms available to help out 🙂

  17. Lois says:

Hair is our adornment but beauty comes from within and many times we have seen the beauty of wee Aria’s spirit. I am sure we will see her show that beauty again. Prayers of Thanks for good friends, and strength for you and Hamish.

Our God is good for supplying people like the Arm’s! Among many other things. So glad that Boomie could have fun times and some enjoy some normal kid stuff. I’m sorry that your heart is hurting about Aria’s hair – praying that our Father will heal and comfort it and her! Give my wee girl a kiss from Aunty and tell them both that I love them a million M&M’s. My heart yearns to be with you all.

I know that you are all having a wonderful peaceful time despite all, God who started this good work in you will see it to completion, we will stand in His faith by His word as was given to us nearly five years ago. “The just shall live by faith; and if they shrink back, I will not be pleased” Heb 10 final verses. Thank you Anita for writing so well all that is happening to Aria, I am sure Aria’s hair will be beautiful and thick again soon. Thank God for Aria’s improvement continuity and give thanks for her fighting spirit, Just take 1 day at a time family, love in our Redeemer and continue in prayer for you and friends in hospital staff and many at your community there. God bless you Anita, Aria, Hamish and Ashe amen.

Great that Aria is off the ventilator. Although it’s been a bumpy day, things will get better. It is Easter Sunday in SA and we sent special prayers up for Aria today. Bless the Arms family for taking Asher and showing him such a great time this weekend – that’s really special. My heart goes out to you, Anita and Hamish, and especially Aria for all the hurdles you are having to overcome. Hard as it may be, keep the faith, keep your heads up and keep on praying and when you can’t, know that there are thousands out there praying and interceding on your behalf. Blessings from SA xx

Sometimes it is the visual things that crush us the most and remind us what we try hard to forget (the sickness). I feel your hurt and it probably feels like losing Aria’s hair is one of the most painful things because until it grows back it will be a reminder. BUT, you know that in a few days/weeks you will be looking beyond the hair because you will have come to terms with it and you will know that it is part of the process of Aria’s treatment and recovery. For me the tube taped to Lara’s face was the most horrific reminder of her sickness and you know that an ng tube is nothing much at all in the scheme of things especially with all the other tubes she had hanging out of her, but that was my torment to bear. Sending lots of love and hugs and strength to you. Lara and Jake send their love too and we have been talking about Aria a lot. Lara remembered when we visited your house for a play (god – how long ago was that and how young were they?).

Dearest Anita – sharing with you in your sadness and hardship. Praying for the medical team to have wisdom and insight and for you and Hamish to know deep peace that only God can. We are praying and loving you through our tears for Aria. Much love to you. X

There is a lump in my throat that is stopping anything more meaningful to say other than much love to you, to Aria, to Hamish and to Asher. xx Neala
