Saturday in Omaha + PHOTOS
It is Saturday morning and Aria spend the night in PICU. Â The nurses said she slept well and Hamish and I managed about 8 hours sleep. Â It feels good to be rested.
Aria greeted me with a ‘hello mummy’ and a hug and a kiss! Â Such a sweet girl. Â She must feel like complete rubbish and we know she is in pain. Â But she still manages to be a sweetie. Â She has moments when she is really uncomfortable and doesn’t settle. Â Then she is straight to sleep. Â She is trying hard to keep going. Â We are so pained to watch her suffer so.
I have taken some photos. Â I just looked at them and am a bit nervous about posting them. Â Aria looks pretty sick and yellow. Â Which is the reality of her situation really.
Met the transplant surgeon who is on this weekend, I haven’t figured out their rotations yet. Â She was nice and said that we are just waiting for organs now and said it could be ‘hours/days/weeks/months’ Â But then she said ‘well not months’ Â I didn’t ask whether she meant it shouldn’t take that long to get organs or Aria doesn’t have months. Â We have learn’t not to ask questions when we don’t really want to hear the answers.
Asher and I are off to Walmart this afternoon. Â A lovely nurse called Amanda is taking us. Â It will be nice to get out of the hospital again and get some things that we need.
Aria needs organs, please pray they will come and soon. Â God has brought us so far and we pray He will take us the whole way.
Aria in her PICU bed watching her DVD player- Barney is the new fave
Ashie Monster- who has been far from a monster, such a good boy.
View from the hallway where we catch the lift to go down to the hospital.
This is were we stop each time to look for bunny rabbits. Asher insists we stop to see if there are any there. We have seen them a couple of times but the snow has melted a fair bit now.

EVE GILKES says:May you all know the peace and presence of God with you.
It is difficult to pray for the organs, knowing, as you said, that in order to have them someone else’s child will die.
My heart goes out to you.
with all love …… and prayers, our God is a God who heals, He does the impossible.
Eve.
Thank you that even amidst your hectic busy time, you can find time to keep us all updated.

Dawn says:Yeah praying for organs is difficult, and i remember i had a particular patient i was caring for who was on a mechanical heart device waiting for his heart transplant… I remember one day he said to me Dawn can you pray to your God to get me a new Heart, and i really struggled with concept… and wasn’t sure how i felt with it. I spoke with one of our pastors at church, and he said and it made me feel better, that the Donor was going to die anyway (which is not nice to think on) or they wouldn’t be considered for organ donation, so i sort of changed my mentality and was God if there is anyone who for whatever reason is being taken from this earth, and they are a sutible match pray their family would give the gift of life and donate the heart… that became the tone of my prayers… Now i’m not sure how that goes with everyone, but it really helped me…

Moving to another country with different cultures etc so it is interesting to see your photos of the view from the window etc…and the snow!! lol
Aria is in the best place and your faith has carried you all through this journey. Trust in that faith. Everything has come together so quickly, I am just so thrilled that she is listed and ready to go.
Think of you all.

Carmen says:Hamish and Anita, may the Lord continue to grant you both with strength and perserverance. How wonderful it is to have a firm foundation in Him, the God who cares and the God who is in total control! He is the greatest Orcherstrator and praise the Lord that He has brought you all this far. May God continue to watch over little Aria and sustain her until suitable organs are provided. Our hearts and prayers go out to you all!!

Tiffany says:I have a friend who is waiting for a pair of lungs. Her name is Kerri, & she has been on the list for 2 years. She doesn’t have lung cancer or anything like that, but her lungs became weak after her last son was born. She knows that God is with her through this process, just like He has been there for your family! God wants the best for Aria, & He knows what’s best for her. I will of course keep praying for Aria, & that God’s will be done!
