And back from the OR
Aria is back from her third trip to the OR. Â The surgeon said that everything looks good in there, all her organs looks great. Â They washed her out and took some cultures. Â Because her old organs were in such a messy awful state there was a big risk for infection. Â So if the cultures grow anything then she will have to go back to the OR for a 4th time.
The transplant co-ordinator came by and dropped off Aria’s transplant gifts. Â A soft toy liver, kidney, intestine and pancreas! Â Complete with pens so everyone can sign them. Â We will have to take a pic of them all, very funny.
Miss Aria is still really sleepy and we haven’t seen much life from her. Â She is pretty puffy and it is expected to get worst! Â The nurse cleaned out her mouth and she stirred and brought her hand up but that is it. Â I really miss her, she such a fun girl. Â We all do.
Asher came in and said hello to her last night. Â He does this funny thing were he cups his hands around his face and says BAAAA! Â to wake someone up. Â He tried with Aria but of course didn’t understand why she wasn’t waking up. Â And he waved goodbye and was confused with the lack of response.
Hamish and I were trying to figure out if Aria still had her belly button. Â I asked the surgeon this morning on rounds and was relived when she showed me she did. Â Isn’t that funny? Â We thought maybe because they cut her right down the middle they might of gone straight thru it but they didn’t! Â There is a really funny Vegie Tales song about having ‘no belly button’
Anyway Aria was on the front page of the Dom Post again today and on stuff.co.nz. Now is it Brad and Angelina, would much rather see Aria!
I have a interview with Radio Rhema today too at 9.30pm my time. Â Minus 5 hours for NZ, to lazy to the do basic maths!

Hopefully no nasty surprises from the cultures. Little Ashie would be missing big sis big time! If he only he could understand that she will be back on her feet one day soon to have lots of good fun with her little brother! :-)))

So lovely to be getting so many updates whilst Aria sleeps. Am sure time seems to be going slowly whilst you wait for Aria to wake and lay a little of her charm on you – but am sure as Shirley said above that the sleep will bring her strength and healing. Here’s to nothing mean in those cultures huh! Love to you all, hope you are staying rested and holding in there. Saw in the article that Dr E is planning to travel over at some stage? Am sure that will be lovely to have her join you. xxx

so pleased to hear that the organs are looking great..that has to be a good sign. Fingers crossed nothing grows from the culture and that Aria is back up and smiling again very soon

Very glad to hear Aria’s new organs look good and hoping she stays infection-free! I can sympathize with the belly-button question…after our daughter had her 2nd major abdominal surgery I went looking for it to make sure. Best wishes from Boston to all of you, Aria is truly amazing.
