Aria is doing awesome!
Aria is doing really well, we are so encouraged.
She is off a couple of meds today, dopamine being the major one. Â Her blood pressure, heart rate and breathing is great too. Â She is still over breathing the vent too.
Aria hasn’t opened her eyes yet but the arms and legs are waving around a bit. Â When the nurses put eye drops in her eyes and she tries to bat them away. Â They had to change out the vent machine and manually bag her for a bit and she didn’t like that at all. Â So there were arms and legs going in all directions.
She is really really puffy and they gave her to med to help pee it out and her kidneys managed fine with it.
Her bili is dropping at every blood draw which is 6 hourly (or Q6 like they say here)!
So today some really solid progress.
The only bummer was that there is confirmed bacteria in her abdominal wall and they will wash her out tomorrow.  Her wound is still open so they can go back and forth.  I did see it today, it is pretty full on.  Not sure when they are going to sew her back up.
Anyway the nurse today was really awesome and took the time to explain lots of things to me and talk with me about stuff so I felt apart of things today. Â It has been a struggle really not even feeling comfortable to adjust the bed but we are getting there.
Miss Carol came in today and sat with Aria while Hamish and I got out for a couple of hours. Â Thank you Carol! Â Ash was at preschool. Â I guess Aria is asleep the whole time so it doesn’t really matter if there was no one with her. Â But it just feels better knowing there is someone here. Â It was lovely to get out, I haven’t been outside for almost two weeks!
Anyway hopefully more progress tomorrow! Â Go Aria, you’re awesome 🙂

Kathleen and Anita says:Today a Colombian friend of ours told us that a couple of nights ago she had a burden to pray lots for Aria. Her wee grandson didn’t make it to the transplant op for kidneys. He died in December but do you know something? His parents donated his heart and his eyes and the knowledge that another child (or children) have been blessed by those organs has helped enormously in their grieving process. I just know that the parents who donated organs for Aria

Linda Crosbie says:Great to hear those postive signs are starting to come through with Aria’s recovery. Wonderful that you can both got out and had some time for you to be a couple doing normal things even if it might only be for an hour or two.
I think that trip to Disneyland that you have hoped for with the kids will be part of your activities to plan in the future. Little Aria is a battler and she will come through all of this to be a right little star that will give you a run for your money!!!(as you know)
I sent an update email to all the staff at work (Hamish’s old work at FPF) and they are all sending their best wishes and reading your blogs. Both of you should be really proud of the work you do as wonderful parents to Aria and Asher. People have said how amazed they are with your honesty in your blogs and your strength of faith. Kia kaha – stay strong. XXXX

Judy Palmer says:Great news about Aria’s progress.Don’t worry too much that she isn’t waking up yet. When Allan, my husband, finally woke up after his surgery, he was healed and hadn’t had any of the pain associated with open heart surgery. So God is healing Aria while she sleeps and she will be less traumatised when she wakes up.
God bless all of you, Judy.
