Positives/Negatives - Aria MacDonald

Positives/Negatives

Positives

Aria’s bili is 3.4 or 61 and the rest of numbers are described as perfect

Her white cell count is dropping 70 today down from 109.

Update : Make that 62 at the end of the day

Her stoma is producing a bit of stool- that means it is starting to work- great considering it gets handled and stitched up all the time and bowels don’t like being handled.

Aria is less puffy getting close to being normal.

She is nicely sedated, calm but managing eye contact and communication.  She asked me to put on a video and choose the video when offered Barney or Winnie the Pooh (she choose Pooh).  She asked for hat for her and Green Dolly.  Bare in mind she cant talk so she does well to make herself known.  She also waved to Aunty Alex on Skype yesterday.

Asher had the best day ever yesterday at preschool and his teachers were so excited.  They were learning the letter L yesterday.  The task was to colour in the letter L with little pink pieces of sticky paper and Asher got his all inside the lines.  And when he got home he climbed up on the loo and did wees in the potty without being asked or prompted.

Negatives

Aria’s temp and heart rate are up.  Nothing major the highest being 38.2 but it is a little disappointing.

UPDATE Temp and heartrate are perfect now 🙂

There will be other trip to the OR tomorrow and they will continue until they stop finding holes and the cultures come back clear.  So this means that the breathing tube will stay too.

    Wow – although the negatives are still there, it is fantastic to hear so many positives – at this stage the plusses are outnumbering the minuses! – Well done to Aria for being such a great communicator – isn’t she just the best?? And Ashie too – what a little trooper he is. He must be feeling really settled and loved. We both still have you in our thoughts every day. Much love to you all.

    Checking in here is a priority each day. Thanks so much for keeping the updates coming. Still praying, still longing to see your wee Aria restored to full ‘little girl’ activities. God IS so good and there is absolutely no doubt He is on the job.
    What a blessing both of your children are to you, just as the Psalm says.

    HI, I am following your story as I have a special interest as I work in a special needs unit in New Plymouth, Taranaki. Aria you are a very brave little girl and my prayers go out to you and your family at this challenging time. Keep strong and keep smiling. Lisa. xxx

  5. Nola Young says:

    Read the story of David and Goliath yesterday and immediately I pictured Aria and you all in a similar battle. The giants are hugh – infection, rejection, discouragement, utter weariness, pain, anguish etc but in the end as David could say “the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you (in this case -deal with all these issues) into our hands’ (1 Sam 17:47.) Its a wonderful reminder of God at work and with HIm nothing is impossible.

    Some times I wonder if God doesn’t bring us to an end of ourselves – even as He has recently done with you, so yet again we realise that ‘we can’t,but God can’! So easily we forget and think it rests on us

    …”that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who delivered us from so great a death and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also [in this case – we all] helping together in prayer for us,[for you] that thanks may be given by many for the gift granted to us[you] through many.” (2 Cor 1:8-11). Much love

    Love those verses in 2Corinthians that Nola brought to our notice. So appropriate for your situation. Great news with positives. Praying that soon positives will out number the negatives and Aria can lose that annoying tube. Thinking of you all many times during days and also nights if I wake.
    Judy.

  17. Rakete Family says:

    I read this hymn yesterday and thought the writer did a great job and is a good prayer I have used for you.

    Lord You can help when earthly armour fails us;
    Lord, You can save when deadly sin assails us;
    You, O Lord Christ, alone, will never fail us,
    Grant us Your peace, Lord.
    By Joseph Barnaby 1838-1896

  18. Kathleen and Anita says:
