Aria is back?
Today was an interesting day. Â It was the first full day with Aria’s trach and it was all about learning.
The sedation has been taken down and her personality is coming back. Â Interestingly we have been able to hear her voice a little bit which we shouldn’t be. Â I heard her say a few words like ‘Book please’ and of course ‘NO!’
Unfortunately it looks like the trach is in a funny place because she was spitting up a bit today. Â She has been very thirsty the past couple of days and it has been pretty hard to keep her happy. Â Every time she would drink something normally it would come out of her wound vac but today it would ‘sit’ somewhere (not sure where) and come up again a bit later on. Â So ENT will be back tomorrow to check.
My big goal is to get her to smile. Â Not sure how I will get that to happen but I imagine it will involve me pretend to fall over or hit my head- those jokes always got laughs from Aria. Â It is kinda like having a newborn !!
We read an animal book together than she choose and she was making all the mouth movements the animals where to communicate how they were feeling.  She did really well.  Lots more communicating with her little voice and signs.
All and all it was a positive day I think and I enjoyed her company.
Someone asked about temps and injection I think in a comment. Â Aria is still battling temps but all her cultures are clear so they think it is drug related. Â Her white blood cell count is normal so that is a good sign and her heart rate and BP are good too.

Praise God for clear cultures and normal white blood count. Great stuff! I am sure you will get lots of smiles soon. don’t worry about a scar from the trach. My husband accidentally pulled his out and had to have another put in but now we can’t see either scar (they disappeared in a couple of days). Praying for more improvements in Aria’s health.

Wow how cool that Aria can have her mouth free to communicate with you – so sweet! I hope you don’t hurt your head too much to get a smile but still it will be worth having a whopper headache for that one! Once that wound settles I’m sure she will be smiling heaps!

Going by the relationship I watched shared by your husband son and yourself on the tv programme. even though little Aria cannot put her smile on or speak as before yet, the warmth you surround her with and support which she obviously before felt and was empowered with will sustain her through this time. Aria is so blessed to have chosen to be born to your family, love to you all from my 2 precious grandaughters and me
