Aria’s night and first day post transplant
Aria fell asleep with a sponge stick in her mouth!
Yay- Aria had a great night. Â She was stable throughout and no bleeding or trips to OR. Â Peeing good and labs look great. Â They changed her dressings and gave her a bath to get her all cleaned up.
Things are different this time 🙂
Anyway I am up early even though only got to bed at midnight. Â So excited about seeing Aria today. Â And Asher, he had been staying with Brad and Stephanie and having a great time.
9.30am
Aria vitals are all looking good.  Heart rate 120s, BP is a bit soft 83/43, temp 36.3 O2 100.  She is off the paralytics so she is stirring when we do cares which is good.
PT came in and was talking to the nurse about another patient getting up and walking. Â Aria opened her eyes and shook her head obviously thinking they were talking about her! Â Funny girl- don’t worry Aria- we aren’t going to make you do feet walking 12 hours after transplant!
Her bili is 8 which is good and her WBC count is 15 which is ok. Â Hoping it doesn’t get to the 100s like it did last time!
There are going to be hard days still to come but we are going to celebrate today and rejoice.

They have gone down on her vent setting because her gases were perfect- good news.  She has extra lung capacity now from her diaphragm being tacked down.  No one knows for sure if this will help her get off the vent quicker but we are all hopeful.
Her sodium is high so she is pretty thirsty. Â Aria woke up and kept pointing to her mouth and got a bit upset so we sedated her more.
Her urine has dropped so they are checking her labs- it is to be expected but hopefully it come back soon.

Oh Anita and Hamish – Aria just looks so good in that picture – she is a different child! I just get the best feeling from this transplant (and from you). To start out this way, on such a positive note and for her to be looking so good and responding so well has just got to be a sign of a great future! Keep it up Aria – the road will be full of bumps ahead but let them be ones that are easy to recover from and let Aria be strong and feisty and kick that recovery in the butt (oh gosh – that is Jakes influence on me!). Thank you for keeping us all updated, this is wonderful news. Ever hopeful that this is “the one” for her, that this is her time for healing and that her body accepts these new organs. My sympathies for the donor family, but my gratitude goes to them also – their generosity and willingness to donate has given Aria another chance. For that, we will be ever thankful.
