Speed wobbles
Aria hit an Omaha pothole last night. Â Actually at the time we thought it was a pothole, turns out it may be more like a filled in pothole.
Got a call from PICU at 2am saying that she had had an episode of gasping for breath, turning blue and her stats down to 47%- EEK! Â What!? Â Was our groggy response. Â She had been doing so well and we were so surprised. Â I couldn’t sleep and needed to see her so went in to talk to the staff and understand what happened. Â Her trach wasn’t blocked or anything. Â The o2 had come off (most likely she pulled it off) and for whatever reason she did not hold her own on room air. Â Strange given she was doing great on room air the pass couple of days.
Chest xray was done stat and it looked exactly the same as normal. Â The team just thinks she is tired and we need to expand her lungs more. Â The speaking valve will help a lot with that but she hates it. Â It redirects the air flow within her lungs and while you and I do that all the time when we talk Aria hasn’t experienced that for months.
So our home plans have been pushed out a couple of days. Â New surgeon on this week and she is fine with Aria going home but said more like Wed or Thurs. Â That’s ok. Â We want to be comfortable Aria is doing pretty well because we don’t want episodes like that at home. Â The breathing is the only thing keeping Aria in hospital. Â Her labs/bloods look great and today they changed blood draws to Mon, Wed, Friday instead of every day! Â Also important for going home. Â AND Aria doesn’t have to get sticked everyday too poor kid.
Hamish and I are going away for the night tomorrow. Â The surgeon suggested we go two days but not sure if we can manage that. Â The team promised to call if there was any reason to come back but I think we couldn’t stay away that long. Â Nice of them to care though.

Glad Aria is back on track after that episode. Also, glad Hamish and Anita can get away for AT LEAST a night while the grandparents are here visiting. Take the two days! After all you aren’t leaving the country and when you are at home you are away from the hospital anyway. I imagine you will be on call and that your wee break will be near enough to get back if needed. I know it’s hard but you really can trust God to look after her. Isn’t it funny how we always think we can do it better than He can!

Aria is never alone as God is right beside her every hour. Just put you trust in him and let him be in charge.You two get away and just enjoy. We will keep praying.

Oh speed wobbles! Hope you have a lovely break away. It would be great if you could take two days but hey, even now I struggle with that idea! And you have things a lot more unstable than us, so take what you can live with otherwise you will just spoil it by worrying about Aria anyway!

Poor miss Aria. 🙁 I hope things go better for her the next few days, so she can go home! You & Hamish do need time together, & Aria is in good hands, & in God’s hands! But since she’s your child, you just want to know she’s safe & well. God Bless you!

Praise the Lord for all the progress forward. I am sure she will be ok from now on, many things has happenend to reassure you both that all that could happen has happened. Papa has promised to be with us always so He is right there with you all especially with Aria. Dear child of God Aria, praise God for your progress so far. I am so grateful to Him for all his loving care for you. Praise God, praise Jesus, praise Holy Spirit amen amen amen.

I know it’s easy for us to say to take another day away, but if you are not comfortable with that, follow your own instincts and you will be happier. God be with you as you take a break and also with Aria, Asher and Grandparents while you are away. Relax and enjoy.

Praise the Lord that Aria has recovered ok. We were rejoicing at Redeemer yesterday at the progress that Aria has made to such a stage she will be home soon – the Lord willing.

Speed wobbles are a pain poor aria!! i hope you and hamish get away for a couple of days to ‘relax’ while aria is spending time with her grandparents. always hoping and thinking of you guys xx

I’m so glad Aria has been so well overall. It brings me so much joy. It makes me feel that everything we were fighting for could have been possible and not just in vain. I do hope you both get some rest and relaxation. Wish I was in your shoes… but immensely glad your fight continues. Miss you guys. Please come to Texas when Aria becomes an outpatient! I took Valeriana to the Mall of America with Alexis and Robby, which I’ll never forget. It brings a smile to my face every time I think about it. She also returned infection free! We’d love to see you guys! Hope you’ve grown accustomed to us “louder” American’s. Even though we’re loud…we’d still take good care of you quieter types. Don’t forget that when I was young I may have gone to too many concerts, so my hearing is gone. lol (I sure do miss your cute little accent. Give me a “ring” sometime when your not too busy.)
