Quick Update
Sorry Aria fans for the lack of updates!
Hamish and I ended up heading away for TWO nights to Nebraska City.  Or Nebraska ‘City’ as we have been joking- kinda like a small version of Cambridge, beautiful.  We stayed in a beautiful lodge funnily enough called The Lied ha ha.  We had a GREAT time, it was hard to come back which it hard to say because we missed the kids.  But it was hard to come back and back into the reality of hospital life.
Aria’s time was uneventful and boring so the surgeon on told us. Â Some fine tuning of her labs and general condition. Â She is having an allergic reaction to something, lasix was the theory. Â Not to be confused with Latex although that is also off the list because PICU is latex free (thanks Viv!) Â So they have changed her feeds. Â Poor girl is still itchy and rashy but in general ok.
The plan is to have her home Thursday morning.  Tomorrow is going to be flat out with training with the home health service who do everything o2, feeds, dressings, pumps, the works.  We need to be trained on the o2 machine, suction, pulse ox etc etc  Although to be honest all the organising has been done for us, I haven’t written a list or done a single thing.  I have been told it is all sorted and I don’t need to worry.  I hope they are right!

I am soo pleased that you and Hamish got a lovely trip away. You both soo deserved it.
Wow Thursday is going to be the most amazing day for you, cant wait to hear what your beautiful babes get up to together once they are home together.
Looking forward to hearing the updates when you are all home together again with out the extra burden of having to be in two places at once.

Wonderful news – you so needed that time away to yourselves – to be ‘normal’ for a little while…. it’s times like those that keep you going! So don’t feel guilty – you deserve everything that ‘normal’ families take for granted sometimes….and you will be fine with everything they tell you to do… plus, I’m sure they will give you a ‘hotline’ to the hospital for times when you are not sure… xo

Lovely to hear you had 2 nights away!! Hope it was a lovely and relaxing time for you both!!! Will be thinking of you over the next few days as you train and learn and prepare to bring Aria back home with you! Wow, that is so fantastic, how far Aria has come!! Love to you all as always, Lis xxx

Good on you guys! Who knows when you will get a chance for another break so its really great to hear you got TWO days. So exciting to think it is only 2 days till you can take your darling girl home. Hope all the training goes well

Well done on taking time out for you two – you do really really need to see each other again! I can’t believe it is all happening this thursday – Miss A is coming home – what a super miracle! Have fun with your training, I’m sure it will take a few days to adjust to life at home all together but you have been well prepared with all that has gone before – I am so excited for you and your big move home!

So glad that you had the two days away. If its a place similar to Cambridge I am guessing it was relaxing and peaceful. Bet you needed the short burst of tranquility to ready yourselves for the next part of the journey with the arrival of Miss Aria. While its been your new home for a while it will be a new on for Aria from the last 8 months. Just think what an amazing and adaptable girl Aria is going to be with all the changes she has had to face. XXX

So glad you had some time away!!! You will catch onto home health so fast, it’s overwhelming at first, but you will have lots of books and you wouldn’t be the first person to call in the middle of the night with questions (definitely done that!)

There is a saying “No news is good news” but it was much more than a saying as each time we opened the mail and Arias update WASN’T there!!! Why? Because it’s absence told us loud and clear that you HAD got away! We are so happy for you and hope you can do it again one day in the not too distant future.
