24 hours at home and….
Aria has been home 24 hours and things are going pretty good.
Last night was pretty tough, I think Asher as a newborn was less work. Â Not much sleeping happening for either of us. Â Aria found it hard to settle and kept pulling off her toe prob off to get our attention thus making the machine alarm. Â We have rearranged the kids bedroom today and made some other changes so fingers crossed that helps.
Asher is very pleased to have Aria home but I think a bit confused and therefore uncharacteristically whingey.  It is a touch trying on our patience because we aren’t used to him being like this.
We sat Aria and Ashie down for some preschool time and she sat really well at the table and did some worksheets
The two biggest wins for the day would be firstly getting her to wear her speaking valve. Â We have only managed to keep it on her for 2 mins at a time but we managed to convince her of the need to have her voice (after she pulled off her tummy dressings to get our attention). Â So she has been wearing the valve for a good couple of hours now and seems to be used to it. Â We have been able to hear her voice and she is using more of her words.
Secondly her urine output seems to of increased heaps. Â I had to change her nappy/diaper in the middle of the night and this morning there was another very full one. Â Her ankles and legs seem lots less puffy and softer to the touch. Â Of course we aren’t weighing her nappies like in hospital but we ‘know’ her output pretty well from feel and can tell it has improved.
Hamish and I have found the whole thing rather stressful to be honest. Â The house was a complete tip with all the consumables and equipment needed. Â SO thankful for God’s timing in having Christine here. Â She has tidied and organised all the stuff we brought home from hospital (a lot) and helped with the kids room. Â Very grateful for her servant heart. Â Not sure how we would of managed to be honest without them being here.
Thanks for all the lovely comments, we really appreciate the support.

Viv says:Gorgeous picture – and encouraging post – is that a toothbrush or a lollipop in Missies mouth? Hope things settle into a steady routine soon and you’re able to get consistent sleep.

Kathleen and Anita says:Take it slowly, just a day at a time.Or better still, just an hour at a time. We will get our prayer team on the job, praying for the huge adjustments necessary. Must be tough on Asher too, having his world suddenly “invaded” even if he does love the little “invador” to bits! Just give him time, and perhaps a spell outside the house just Ashie and a grown up to give him full attention.

Lisa Robertson says:Well, It is just so lovely to see photo’s of Aria home with you!!! How incredible is that!!! I am sure you are so tired today 🙁 but am sure the sleepless, mischief and tantrums own’t last forever & it’s good healthy family stuff!! When we move somewhere new there is always a little apprehension, excitement and often little sleep those first few nights, am sure Aria will settle soon…. such a big change from hospital – and the nursing staff at home (aka Mum and Dad!) is likely a wonderful novelty for Aria!!!
You guys are just doing amazing – I hope tonight is a much better night. As always, love and thoughts are with you all xxx

Leticia says:I love this photo. It looks so normal… I know how hard it is to bring a child home. I go through it every time I pick up another broken child to come home to our house. What works for us is slowly night by night integrating them into a routine that works for us and the other children we have in our care. I know our situation is a bit different but it does get better.
Praying for you that it does get easier and the potholes fewer. Blessings as always,
Tesh, Chris, Mr 3, Mr 6, Miss .8
