Happy 3rd Birthday Asher!
The MacDonald Family had such a great day! Â We went and ate cupcakes
We went to the park across the road
We went to Chuckie Cheese, played and ate pizza
The important fact is: Â We went! Â And we had fun. Â Sure it was a little stressful when Asher started licking the window in the fancy cupcake shop. Â But hey – he is 3 right?
Seriously though, this little boy had such a lame birthday last year, we did nothing for him. Â Thankfully Childlife kindly organised a little party with cake and I did manage to get to Target for a gift. Â We had only been in the US for 3 days and were so tired and overwhelmed. Â And Aria was SO SICK! So this year we tried to do heaps of fun things.
Asher has been such a gift on this journey.  He is our little light.  Our lives would be far far poorer without him and we are so thankful for him.  He has readily been embraced by five families here in Omaha who have looked after him and even had him overnights.  Asher is a brilliant boy and is an easy kid to spend time with.
He has struggled with our journey too, particularly the past 6 weeks with the comings and goings from hospital. Â And yes he does fight with his sister and she with him. Â But they are good friends, hence why he finds it hard with her being away from home.
Our prayer is that He will grow to be a loving and compassionate boy and man, loving others and God.

Ooooooh, reading that gave both smiles & goosebumps, what a little cutie & a little miracle in his own right.
With this start he sure will grow into a very loving, compassionate & ADAPTABLE boy & man.
How many 3yr olds are so adorable & easy going with riding thru this journey. He is allowed to fight/argue as they are a bro & sis who LOVE each other & that is normal behaviour for kiddies who have been & going thru so much yet you ALL still come out smiling.
The little ‘auto window washer’ took the cake!!!

Happy Birthday Asher. So glad you had a good time. You have been such a good little trooper throughout this long tour of hospitals and illness. I believe you are a key to much of Aria’s fight daily.Looking at the pics the love you two have for each other shows. Normal sibling nature shines through.Congratulations for such a great mom and dad.

Happy Birthday Asher – it is hard to believe that this little surprise miracle baby is now 3! I remember when you first told me your wonderful news that you were pregnant when we were both in Starship with our girls. You were wondering how on earth you were going to cope with a hospital bound wee girl and a new baby and yet look at you! You coped with having a new baby, a daughter in and out of hospital, and the stress and anxiety at having to be separated from either Aria or Asher at times. He has been the most wonderful gift you could imagine and has brought so much happiness to both you and Hamish, and Aria as she has been able to be a big sister. He has turned into a delightful wee man and shows much compassion and love.
