The Titanic
Aria’s progress has unfortunately stalled in recent days. Â We haven’t turned the corner yet.
The main problem is her kidneys and the huge amount of fluid she is carrying in her body.  When the body suffers a traumatic event it gets overly excited and sends fluid everywhere.  Like when you sprain your ankle and it puffs up.  Except Aria’s body doesn’t know where the injury is so it sends fluid everywhere.  It is called third spacing.  While her body is carrying fluid, intravascularly she is dehydrated, the fluid is sitting in her tissue and not where it is suppose to be.  Her her kidney numbers are really high and asking for more fluid.
So we need to move that fluid out of her body, particularly around her lungs so they can expand properly and she can get off the ventilator.  So they are giving diuretics to help her pee.
The day before things were looking quite bad and her kidneys numbers going up and up. Â Dialysis looked like it was on the cards and that is not some where we really want to go.
But yesterday one of the docs popped in and said that Aria’s noon labs looked like they were slowly heading in the right direction. Â Like a big ship we are steering it in the right direction he said. Â To which I chimed in and said ‘yeah like the Titanic and we are hoping not to hit the ice berg or the dialysis machine’ Â He laughed and said pretty much.
So a week on Aria hasn’t turned the corner yet. Â One of her line cultured positive for Steno still again yesterday, the bug she is battling right now. Â But that line was removed yesterday so that will really help. Â But overall she is doing well for someone who is septic with no immune system. Â Septic events often lead to death with people with immune systems. Â They are very serious. Â Praise God for what He is doing in Aria, it is a miracle, again.
Yesterday she was awake for a bit and was nodding and shrugging her shoulders when we asked her stuff. Â It is the first good sign of her personality in a week. Â She is still there and fighting! Â Praise God.

I want to give you some hope. A little girl named Marcie Sower, whom I have told you about before, went septic a while back (she’s had other problems since then, but doing better), but she is doing well now. So, I know this can happen for Aria too. God still does miracles! I pray for Aria every day! I’m praying & hoping that today will be a good day for her, & for you! God Bless!

Dear Aria & Family,
It is good to hear that Aria is still there & fighting. I cannot seem to find the words to express my thoughts. Therefore, I will borrow them from a hymn (I’m not sure if you are familiar with it)that came to mind after your ‘Titanic’ blog. It’s called “In the Good Ship of Our Captain”. One verse is this: “Faith and prayer and strong devotion To our Pilot at the helm, Calm our fears and urge us onward Steadily to heavens realm. Though angry clouds sweep fast and wild, And breaking billows roar, We’re safe with Jesus at the helm, To pilot us to shore.” Unlike the original Titanic, I hope your ship meets with a miracle.

I will simply keep praying and trusting God for yet more miracles. He has done so many for Aria and he knows her needs. He will walk this journey with you.

Praise the Lord for all the miracles he performs daily for Aria. Thank you Papa for healing Aria and healing us all in Jesus’ Name. Halleluia amen! Jesus has healed us all 2000 years ago, we just have to receive it and keep it. So heres praying that together with Aria we receive our healing and keeping our healing through trusting in Jesus our Saviour amen, amen, amen.

This is indeed a Titanic experience! And not just for you but for us all who follow Aria’s from day to day. Let’s join the chorus that is sung at the end of the Titanic film: “Nearer, my God, to Thee,Nearer to Thee!” And let’s not just sing it but allow these stressful circumstances to draw us into a really close relationship with Him.

got teary on your last sentence when you described Aria’s moving of her shoulders-the universal picture of the shrugging of little shoulders which makes you think of your own little ones. You guys are so so strong during this time… and carrying on with the titanic analogy you would be the honourable crew guiding people safely onto the rescue boats with a selfless sacrifical love as you have shown over these past years modelling our Lord Jesus. love you guys heaps, love to Aria xo

the most important thing is that Aria is still here and fighting and you are all still loving her and supporting her in any possible way. May God give you all the strength to endure. You are amazing and in my prayers always. Love to you.
