More Service Details

Aria’s Celebration Service will be
10am Friday the 1st of July 2011
St Andrews Presbyterian Church 150 Great South Road Manurewa
Please wear purple, pink or orange-Aria’s fave colours.  Sorry to the blokes, you are going to have to be creative
If you can help with sound, videoing, slide show please contact Tony Bracefield.
Children- please know this will be a kid friendly service.  We have a Kids Corner set up in the service were kids can colour a banner for Aria and draw pictures.  This will be staffed with supervisors.  Parents, your kids are welcome to help themselves to stickers and place them on Aria’s box at the end (sorry not coping with the other words to describe this)

Please stay for refreshments and visit with us.  Maybe there might be a lot of people, not sure.  But please know we are approachable and wanting to talk, there just might be a queue.

Music.  This church service will be different than normal and there will be singing.  Those who know Jesus and are used to this please please please sing loud for us!!!  Those who aren’t so used it just listen and enjoy, join in or not, it is ok to do whatever you want.

Anyway wanting to share a memory, particularly US people, about Aria please email Peter Boyd petethepastor (at) hotmail(Dot)com. Once I have his permission I will post his email or search for him on Facebook.

Dress- Hamish is wearing a tie and I am wearing a dress.  Purple!!  We want to do this for ourselves but beside our request of colour choices please wear what is comfortable.  Smart casual, I guess, a phrase that isn’t used in the US we learnt!

Please pray for us and our family, our hearts are heavy and grieving.
Most of all- please come on Friday!  It would mean a lot.

Update:

Aria’s service will be streamed live on the internet for those unable to be there.
There is a link to the live stream (Ustream Live) on the left column of Aria’s Facebook page.

I am so sorry to not be there in person, as I feel that this is the most important thing those of us who live in or near Auckland could do to show you our love. All I can say is that I will certainly be there in heart and spirit, and that we love you. May God keep you strong dear MacDonald family. The service sounds like it will be absolutely wonderful and deeply right for Aria. With love XXX

  27. Wayne says:

Anita and Hamish, I can’t be there but will be wearing some of Aria’s colours when I teach my classes at Hamilton’s Fraser High School on Friday!
I have followed your postings since Clare and I met you in Auckland and often prayed…if you get a chance sometime see if you can have a listen to “Light Princess” by Terry Scott Taylor. It would be an appropriate song for Aria, now with her Heavenly Father. But, I grieve with you, too.

  28. Belinda (LF-Aus) says:

I can’t be there in person as I live in Brisbane Australia, but I have been following sweet Aria for a long time now and a friends mum is whipping me up a bright orange scaf to wear to work on friday in honour of Aria. xxx

  29. Emma & Gremlins says:

I’ll be there in my best pink dress! (unless the Chilean volcano interrupts flights again). 35. UNMC P.A. says:

Thank you, Macdonald family, for allowing us to care for your daughter. I consider it an honor, and a learning experience I shall never forget. Aria meant so much to us. I will never forget Aria, Asher, and of course, Green Dolly. There are not enough words to express my condolences to your family. So, I will leave you with lyrics to a beautiful song I once heard at a very special funeral mass:

Sing Me To Heaven – by D. Gawthrop

In my heart’s sequestered chambers lie truths stripped of poet’s gloss.
Words alone are vain and vacant and my heart is mute.
In response to aching silence memory summons half-heard voices,
and my soul finds primal eloquence and wraps me in song.
If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby. If you would win my heart, sing me a love song.
If you would mourn me and bring me to God, sing me a requiem, sing me to heaven.
Touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure, grief and comfort.
    Sing me a lullaby, a love song, a requiem. Love me, comfort me, bring me to God;
Sing me a love song. Sing me to heaven.

I know whatever songs you choose for Aria’s final celebration, everyone will indeed be singing her to heaven.

  36. Marie says:

Anita & Hamish, as much as I would love to be there to remember and celebrate with you on Friday, I will have to do it from a distance in spirit. My girls and I are all going to wear Purple and Pink for your beautiful girl!! Loads of love from Brisbane coming your way!
