Stumbled at the finish line - Aria MacDonald

Stumbled at the finish line

Aria’s gut has been making good progress over the past few days.  We have been able to decrease her IV fluids and increase her gut feeds by 10mls every 12 hours.  Her outputs have remained low and steady.

Until today.

We were due to switch off the IV fluids, currently running at 10mls per hour, and put her on to full feeds of 50mls per hour.  But since 6am to 6pm tonight she has had out 700mls when she should have had out 300mls.

So frustrating.  We make progress and then regress.  Now what?  Will the dumping increase?  Will we be right back to square one in a few days? And then have another one week admission trying to slowly get feeds going.

Oh yeah and we got the results from the MRI today which Aria had to see if we can get these headaches sorted.  Aria has a ‘brain injury’  Apparently nothing to worry about but likely caused from how bad her liver disease got.  AND still no answers as to what are causing the headaches.

I am supposed to be speaking tomorrow at Lifesprings Church tomorrow morning at 9am.  About our journey with Aria and God’s goodness to us.  I have been going back and forth in my head as to whether I should do it.  Truth is I would rather crawl into a nice ball and feel sorry for myself.  Getting up in front of strangers seems like an impossible task.  I feel like an empty vessel, discouraged and disheartened.  Hardly someone to be trying to encourage others.

Anyway, God moved once today, hoping He moves again.

Anita, to be honest I think the best thing you can do is go and speak. Speak from your heart – Aria’s journey is not about sunshine and lollipops. There is a reason that you are going to speak tomorrow. And imagine all the prayer in that room! Do it, you won’t regret it.

Really feeling for you today Anita. I cannot imagine what it feels like to be the yo yo (all of you, as a family) and not know when the “ride” will end. x x

God has not forgotten you. “I will never leave you, or forake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8. God can & will give you the words He wants you to share tomorrow, and He will be with you. Blessings to you all.

    Hi Anita
Just been praying for you all and while the current situation is discouraging God has done so many miracles in Aria’s life that you have so much to share with others – who knows the number of people God has prepared to hear your message for a whole range of reasons. God is able to supply the words so go for it – Aria’s story is about highs and lows so your message will be very real about blessings and struggles.
    In Christ

Anita- don’t try to be something or somewhere that you are not. Be yourself- and be honest. Speaking in front of a big group is daunting at the best of times- which this isn’t!! Just let God speak thru you- and that doesn’t mean you have to sound like some super-spiritual or got-it-all-together super human. No-one who will be listening is like that- so the best encouragement you can be is to be YOU- and still hanging in there with your SUPER GOD

  10. Joyce says:

You are so very tired I am sure but be certain that God has you in this place for a reason and someone is waiting for your message from your heart. You have surely blessed me through all this and I am sure many others. Prayers will be for all of you and especially for Aria.Thank you for sharing each day with us. We are all part of the FAMILY OF GOD. not strangers.

  11. Kay and Tom says:

I don’t feel like a stranger either – and I will be there! In fact, I’m on the Ladies Fellowship planning committee and suggested you as a speaker. I faithfully follow your blog and pray for Aria and your family regularly, sometimes even in the middle of the night! You are loved so much and we are looking forward to what God has laid on your heart to share with us.

I was thinking about this lately…. Could she be getting dehydrated, or be anemic? Something along those lines? There’s a reason as to why I’m asking… once I heal more, I can type better and I’ll email you about why I mentioned those…. Much love to you guys! <3

    Go with God Anita.

  15. Tiffany Keller says:

I say, go for it Anita! Don’t worry about what other might think, and speak from the heart. You never know whose life you will touch. You never know if someone else will go through the same thing in the future, and will remember your story. Tell them you’ve been angry and hurt, but have also felt blessed. Every now and then we all want to crawl into a hole, and stay there. :-X

  16. Tiffany Keller says:

Oops, I forgot a couple things. You and your family are always in my prayers Anita! *Hug*

    Psalm 73:23-28
(23)Yet I am always with You; You hold me in your right hand. (24)You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward will take me into glory. (25)Whom have I in heaven but You? And the earth has nothing I desire besides You. (26)My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (27)Those who are far from You will perish; You destroy all who are unfaithful to You. (28)But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all Your deeds.

I hope these verses have encouraged you Anita! God Bless!

  17. Liz says:

You will be buoyed up by the feedback and encouragement you get from speaking. If you can do it 🙂

  19. Samantha Sutherland says:

Oh sweetie – you are the perfect imperfect person to speak. You are real and honest and true and you just need to speak from your heart and tell life like it really is. No one will expect anything else and I think instead they will be inspired by you.
